So…I took a class this semester called “critical writing with literary theories and research” when it could have been called “literary rhetoric.” Have you ever asked a rhetorical question? It’s when you ask a question that doesn’t require an answer because the question itself serves a purpose—a function. That’s what this class was about; studying how secondary sources function to shape our perception of authors and works of literature.
And.
I.
Loved.
It.
You know you’ve fallen in love with a class/way of thinking when you’re sad that you won’t get to write anymore papers or when you say “oh! I want to write a rhetorical analysis about the Hunger Games using a Marxist/feminist lens!”
Anyway, I know what I want my grad school concentration to be now and I am so happy about that.
